"Penguins on Thin Ice" Benefit Concert

What: A benefit concert to let people know about Irthlingz and raise funds to create an animated version of the “Penguins on Thin Ice” climate change musical. The original stage version of the show was premiered by students from the Orcas schools in 2002. This past May, Sharon conducted 18 high school students singing songs from “Penguins on Thin Ice” at the United Nations. A 28-minute animation is now in development.

When: Sunday November 5, 1:00 pm

Where: At the Skagit Valley College Community Room, Friday Harbor, WA, on San Juan Island

Who: Sharon Abreu, Michael Hurwicz and Friends

Musical offerings will include the rich harmonies and high energy of Sharon and Michael, and special guests. Sharon will also sing a couple of her operatic arias, which have been dropping jaws on Orcas lately.

Suggested donation for the concert is $10. All donations are tax-deductible.

Sharon Abreu is known to many islanders for her performance as Kaye in the Orcas Center production of The Taffetas. Michael Hurwicz first achieved fame on the island as Jesus in Godspell. Sharon and Michael started Irthlingz arts-based environmental education in 2002. They use music, theater and multimedia to engage and inspire people to be stewards of the Earth.
